THE AREA IN WHICH WE LIVE

This page will contain one or two pictures showing some of the area in which we live along with some general information.
Hopefully this will whet your appetite to sample more pictures of the area to be found on photopage 4

The River Tyne from the Mill Dam with "HMS Ark Royal" in the background

Alas gone are the many ships which used to make this river bustle with trade from foreign lands. Not so long ago ships had to queue out at sea waiting for a berth in the river

THE RIVER MOUTH ON A WINTER'S DAY

To the right we have a fine panoramic view over the mouth of the river. The picture, taken on a winter's day illustrates a tranquil beauty.
This can be very misleading, as the Lebanese freighter "Adelphotis 2" found out to her cost.
She ran aground and was never refloated, having to be cut up for scrap where she lay

BELOW RIGHT IS A FINE PICTURE OF THE MARINE PARK

This picture, obviously taken on a fine summer day shows the lake in the South Marine Park. This lake these days is crammed with swans and on Sunday mornings hoards of happy parents with excited kids can be seen feeding them.
the swans are not timid at all and will quite happily take bread from you hands, this makes it a happy pastime for the kids.

The "Ark Royal" prior to sailing for the Falklands.

This is a fine picture of a fine ship built on the River Tyne. The Yards on the Tyne have a tradition of building quality ships.
The men building the Ark Royal worked night and day to allow the ship to be ready for service in the Falklands conflict.

This is a magical scene viewed at anytime of the day or Season

This is a panoramic view of the mouth of the River Tyne. This winter scene only adds to the beauty of the view. Many a famous ship has sailed from this river mouth.

This is one of my favourite walks

When I am at home this is one of my favourite walks . It has changed quite a bit these days, there are vast numbers of swans on the lake and many excited children get enormous ejoyment feeding them as they will take bread from your hand. Rosie and I do this walk every morning when I am home, she seems to enjoy it as much as I do
